The story of Cinderella has been told countless times — but in 2021, it was reimagined with a modern twist. Starring Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel, and Billy Porter, this version of the fairytale combined tradition with bold new style choices. Wigs and hair design were central to creating the film’s striking visuals, bringing together fantasy, glamour, and a modern edge.
The Cinderella call came through at an unusual time, I was running the cosmetics brand Give Face Cosmetics and at the time, the wigs were a little addition to the brand - originally put under a trading name of 'Give Head Wigs'. The wigs hadn't been promoted at all and they were just on the back burner, however production of the movie had got hold of one and they were blown away by the quality of the fibre and lace.
Being my first major production I was quite taken back and nervous as they asked if I could supply the quantity they wanted. I was feeling quite anxious but I pushed myself to say yes and signed my first major supply contract.

I shipped all the wigs, they had chosen such a huge diverse range of natural shades and beautiful pastels from the Pastellic and Vivid collection (the only two colourful collections that existed at that time. They were amazed and they came back for more and the movie was one of the major factors that I shifted focus to develop more shades and take them more seriously.
The film was originally planned as a huge cinema release, during the production we had the pandemic and things had to be changed. Some of the headlining actors from USA were not able to travel, so had to drop out and there were times when filming had to be put on hold. However the movie was completed and edited, Amazon given the exclusive release with cinema not being an option.
I loved the film and it marks a milestone for me and my wig business. It was surreal seeing my wigs throughout on the main characters and the ballroom scene with such wonderful creations blew my mind. It was a moment I realised that my wigs were special, the effort I had put into developing the fibre and colour blends had paid off. The wigs caught attention of film studios and that began a new journey for me, I slowly moved the business from cosmetics to focus on the wigs. I could fulfil orders quick enough and right up until today - in 2026 - we are still playing catch up with demand.
