The Twilight Collection - Blackened Colour

The Twilight Collection - Blackened Colour

As explained in the Ethereal Collection blog, Twilight was developed and released at the same time as that collection for me to fulfil my 'light and dark' fantasy. Where angels and elves had inspired the Ethereal collection, I also had a love of vampire films.

I loved very dark lit films and I really was fascinated by the cinematic lighting used to add colour highlights to the actors. Just like the Ethereal collection, this range of hair colours had been locked in years ago - way before I even considered making wigs. I watched films like Interview With The Vampire and The Cell, I loved the drama of lighting and I had imagined wigs which would give the effect of colour backlighting in person.

The Twilight Collection was absolutely the most complicated to create! I watched how hair colourists achieved an almost iridescent effect in blue-black only, but it was soooo difficult to find the right fibre which played with light in the same way. I had so many samples made and at one point, I did shelve the collection as a bad idea as it was feeling substandard. Not one sample was giving me what I wanted. I really wanted it to be spectacular and I decided to just forget about it as I didn't want to put anything out which I didn't love.

At this point I had already been playing with a new blend for the Ethereal collection and had ordered some sample blends which I had forgotten about. A couple of weeks passed and I opened the Ethereal samples, which were beautiful - and bam - the solution for Twilight hit me! I had to do the exact opposite of what I had done with them in regards to colouring, luminosity and blending. I was so confident in my new approach - as it was completely opposite of all the other discarded samples - I that took a gamble and ordered the full range of sample shades on wigs. When they arrived they were PERFECT!

Since their release the Twilight collection has caught the attention of huge movie studios, they have featured in Marvel films and appeared in countless burlesque shows as well as being a favourite with some of the industries finest sculptural wig stylists.

If you love black hair, but want the highlight of cinematic colour, this range is for you!
