We are so grateful to be the supplier to the fabulous independent wig stylist Ramona Art (she/her), behind the hugely successful Wig Bakery in Aschaffenburg, Germany.
I met Ramona many years ago at the first Dragcon UK and I was so excited to see her begin a wonderful venture in wig styling. After a good discussion about our products and how they could help elevate her spectacular designs, we've watched Ramona take on the world! Her favourite shades from our range are Vivid Calypte Pink, Bubble Pink Kandi and Pastellic Hydrangea Blue.
Ramona Art is a drag queen and trained pastry chef. She started doing drag at the start of 2020 because she was absolutely fascinated by the art form which connected her love for makeup with creating looks and the transformation process that comes with drag.
During her drag journey she also started to style her own wigs to make them match her vision and the different looks she has created. Ramona is entirely self trained and just started experimenting with wigs.
It didn’t take long for other drag artists, who loved her work, to ask if she can style wigs for them as well. This led to her opening her own wig business back in 2022 with the name Wig Bakery as a little nod to her pastry chef background.
Ramona has always been a really creative and craftsy person and with her background of making cakes she started to give her wig creations her own little touch and approached wig styling in a more sculptural way. Especially the animal sculpture wigs which pull on the skills of Ramona‘s work as a pastry chef, using very similar techniques in airbrushing, carving and modelling. Ramona has mastered how to translate those incredible techniques to wig fibre.
Ramona‘s work has been featured in different TV franchises of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” worldwide over the past years and is being worn by drag artists all across the world.
